The limited-edition "Signature One Hundred" series Tesla Roadster, the first high-performance electric car manufactured by Tesla Motors, has sold out in three weeks, confirming that the sleek, stylish, zero-emissions Tesla Roadster is a hit.
Unveiled last month before a throng of well-wishers and automotive enthusiasts in Santa Monica, Calif., the Tesla Roadster is transforming the auto industry, proving that it is possible to deliver sports car performance in a handsome, environmentally friendly vehicle.
The electric-powered Tesla Roadster is capable of accelerating from 0-60 mph in about four seconds. It boasts the equivalent of 135 mpg and a range of 250 miles on a single charge, a combination heretofore unseen in a mass-produced electric vehicle*. Its extended range is due to its state-of-the-art lithium-ion Energy Storage System.

GM Chairman and CEO Rick Wagoner announced today that GM will build an all-new version of the Chevrolet Camaro sport coupe based on the award-winning concept that stole the spotlight at the Detroit Motor Show and has ignited the passion of car enthusiasts around the world ever since – even spurring consumers to start petition drives and send in certified checks in hopes of placing early deposits.
The all-new Camaro will begin with early production versions at the end of 2008 and will go on sale in the first quarter of 2009. “The new Camaro will be almost identical to the concept, a thoroughly modern interpretation of the 1969 model, considered by many to be the best design of the car’s first generation,” said Ed Welburn, GM's global vice president of design, who owns a 1969 Camaro SS. The front-engine, rear-wheel drive sport coupe will feature an independent rear suspension, and will be offered in a variety of models with the choice of manual and automatic transmissions and V-6 and V-8 engines.
In fact, the Camaro concept design team embodies the universal appeal that Chevy envisions for the car: The core team reporting to the lead designer ranges in age from 27-35 and came from all over the world, yet they all had similar experiences growing up with a love for the Camaro and American performance cars. Their concept redefines the Camaro for both existing and new generations of fans in a contemporary way with responsive performance and modern technology.

When the S-Type R debuted in 2002, Jaguar had high hopes for the car. It matched the M5 and the E55 AMG for grunt and offered the luxury, comfort and style of Jaguar’s standards. It was the first “R” badged car to come from the Jaguar stable, and it offered a supercharged V8. However, the performance of the car was lackluster with its sluggish automatic transmission and near-4000 lbs curb weight. When BMW and Mercedes-Benz upgraded their respective models with newer body styles and upgraded engines, the S-Type R was left in the dust. Its measly 400 bhp no longer met the high standards set for a 4-door performance sedan, and Jaguar owners and enthusiasts were left wishing for something more. Unfortunately, the aftermarket isn’t much help. Jaguar tuners are few and far between, most likely because those customers wanting more performance generally buy a different model all-together. In steps Special Vehicle Concepts based in Costa Mesa, CA. SVC prides itself on building, simply put, special vehicles. They have the ability to meet clients’ individual requests and have worked on everything from a Corvette to a Yukon Denali to this feature Jaguar. Whatever you want they can build, whether it’s a Hummer H2 with zebra skin interior or a custom hunting truck with a fitted elk lift. No seriously – those were actual customer requests. However wacky and wild your ideas are for a vehicle, SVC can build it. These customers are generally few and far between, though, and most prefer the subtle and elegant look built into most SVC cars.

The SLK-Class Roadsters are the market leaders in their segment, and are among the world’s most successful and exciting sports cars. Although sportiness is al-ready a designed-in attribute, Mercedes-Benz is now offering a special sports package for the two-seater which combines two aims: more incomparable driving experience and an even more potent visual impact. This enhanced sportiness is immediately obvious to the driver in the form of a sports suspension, the large 17-inch braking system with perforated front discs and brake callipers bearing the lettering "Mercedes-Benz". With 225/40 R 18 tyres at the front and 245/35 R 18 at the rear mounted on 18-inch light-alloy wheels in a new 6-twin-spoke design, the running gear provides ample scope for a more sporty style of driving and even more driving enjoyment. The appropriate soundtrack to this enhanced driving pleasure comes via a special sports air filter (only for SLK 280 and SLK 350) with a powerful, throaty sound.
Mercedes-Benz is still the world’s only manufacturer to offer such a feature. At the touch of a button AIRSCARF causes warm air to flow from the head restraints, enabling the occupants of the SLK to travel with the roof down even in cooler out-side temperatures and enjoy open-air driving all year round. Other technical innovations available optionally for the SLK-Class include automatic climate control, bi-xenon headlamps with cornering light function and the COMAND APS system.
