In addition to the limited-edition Corvette Victory Edition, a second special version of the all-American sports car was introduced for 2008 - the Corvette Competition. This model, built in limited numbers on the basis of the C6 Coupé for the European market only, bears strong links to motor sport too, in which the Corvette has proven highly successful.
The special Competition version of ALMS-champion Corvette bears subtle resemblances to the successful C6.R race car. The number of available options on the new car is limited, in order to save as much weight as possible. Another point in common are the air scoops with honeycomb pattern in the front grill and in between the double twin exhaust pipes at the rear. The rear spoiler, borrowed from the Z06 model, not only contributes to excellent aerodynamic properties but is evidence to the Corvette's fine motor sport heritage as well. The bold looks of the Corvette Competition are complemented by 5-spoke alloys (18 inch at the front, 19 inch at the rear) in the colour Competition Grey.

Spyker Cars, manufacturer of premium sport cars, unveiled its second generation C-line sports car at the 2008 Geneva International Motor Show. The all aluminium Long Wheel Base model is called Spyker C8 Aileron and comes with both a manual as well as an automatic gearbox.
The C8 Aileron continues Spyker’s signature architecture of a mid-engined configuration in an aluminium space frame, clad in aluminium body panels.
Designing a successor of a first generation car is no mean feat. Spyker’s design philosophy has always been to create timeless designs, contemporary but classic.
The signature Spyker polished air inlets in aluminium were converted into turbine engine shaped scoops reducing the “bling” element considerably, which reflects a trend Spyker sees in general: more sober designs, less exuberant.
Also the headlight units were reshaped to follow the body design more closely. LED lights are incorporated in the units for indicators as well as Xenon lights (which are standard now).
Unfortunately practicality sometimes gains over design: The first generation cars have split side windows which were not optimal in terms of sealing (wind noise and water management). The Aileron has single pane side glass that drops when the door is opened and closed, creating improved comfort level.The rear diffuser was redesigned for improved functionality. Cylinder heads optimized for faster gas exchange and high-performance camshafts also contribute to the increase in power output. Because of space constraints in the C-Class body an entirely new stainless-steel high-performance exhaust system with low back-pressure metal catalysts had to be developed.The Brabus motor engineers used state-of-the-art engine test benches to program new mapping for engine electronics and on-board diagnostics. An instant style icon from day one, the CLS coupe has spurred an automotive industry trend toward more eye-catching four-door cars – vehicles that blur the line between coupe and sedan.
The Mercedes-Benz CLS63 AMG is powered by one of the most powerful naturally aspirated production V8s ever, also the first engine developed entirely by AMG. Built almost completely from a high-strength silicon-aluminum alloy, the 6.3-liter features four valves per cylinder, double overhead camshafts with variable valve timing, bucket tappets (rather than rocker arms), an 11.3-to 1 compression ratio and a variable intake manifold. AMG engineers designed the 6.3-liter engine block with an especially rigid bedplate with cast-in steel reinforcements at the main bearing, and a sturdy closed-deck layout beside the cylinder heads. The pre-compressed charge air is cooled down in a highly efficient dual-flow water-to-air intercooler system that is mounted above the engine. This measure optimizes power yield and, in combination with a larger water-cooled oil cooler with pressure reservoir, also ensures the engine’s thermal health. Specially developed mapping for engine electronics and SMG gearbox controls coordinate the perfect interaction of all new components.
Acceleration performance benefits accordingly. With a sprint time from rest to 0-60 mph of 4.1 seconds the two-ton sedan bests its production counterpart by half a second. With approx. ten seconds to 200 km/h the advantage grows to 5.0 seconds. The 300-km/h barrier is shattered in less than 29.5 seconds. Contrary to the production car the G-POWER HURRICANE is not limited electronically to a top speed of 250 km/h. Aided by the specially cooled G-POWER anti-slip differential the engine propels the car to an electronically-limited top speed of 211 mph.Meanwhile the maximum speed exceeds the limits of the OEM tires. Testing found special high-speed tires of the Continental that allow a speed of more than 217 mph. Further aerodynamic adaptations allow an even higher theoretical top speed.The G-POWER front apron is made from especially light carbon fiber and replaces the production part in its entirety. Its large air inlets provide optimal supply of cooling air for all radiators and front brakes. At the same time the spoiler minimizes lift on the front axle at high speeds. The G-POWER rocker panels smooth the airflow between the wheel houses and give the M5 and longer, lower and sleeker appearance. Lift on the rear axle is reduced by a spoiler lip attached to the trunk lid and the carbon-fiber rear diffuser for the G-POWER rear apron.

Lotus powers into the 2008 Model year with the Supercharged Elise SC, a 220 horsepower version of the multi award-winning roadster, easily identified by its new rear spoiler and unique new design of alloy road wheels.Despite the on-paper similarity with the Exige S, this is no mere engine swap. This is an all-new, non-intercooled installation applied to the current Elises 1.8-litre 2-ZZ VVTL-i engine. The Lotus-designed, Magnuson-produced supercharger uses a smaller Eaton rotor pack (an M45 unit) than that of the current Exige S, and is married to the intake manifold plenum as part of a single-piece casting. Combined with the absence of an intercooler and its associated pipework, this integrated supercharger/intake assembly contributes to an 8kg reduction in engine weight compared with the Exige S.
In this safety-conscious age and with more and more owners using their Elise as daily transport, demand has been growing for standard-fit airbags. The engine characteristic of the Touareg R50 is marked by a torque level nearly unattainable by the competition: The V10 TDI of the Touareg R50 develops its enormous power of 627 lb-ft at a low 2,000 rpm. The turbo diesel was derived from the well-known ten cylinder with 313 horsepower.
In keeping with the performance potential of the R50, Volkswagen Individual designed new exterior and interior features according to the R philosophy. From the outside, the new Touareg R50 is easy to recognize with its 21-inch Omanyt type alloy wheels and size 295 tires, blue painted brake calipers, discrete wheel well flares, side skirts and distinctive bumpers (Sport Design Package), as well as a modified radiator grille (in a matte finish chrome).

Much of the development of the new IS-F took place at Fuji Speedway and the Higashi-Fuji Technical Center in Japan. The IS-F is based on the proven rear-wheel-drive Lexus IS, which is equipped with a double-wishbone front and multi-link rear suspension. As well as the IS performs, Lexus engineers demanded much more of the all-new IS-F. The result is a performance tuned 5.0-liter V8 engine, topped with specially engineered heads fed by a two-stage intake system, that produces 400-plus horsepower and more than 350 ft.-lbs. of torque. The all-new IS-F is equipped with engine-oil and transmission-fluid coolers for high-speed performance and a cylinder head-scavenging oil pump for high g-force driving.The IS-F engine is mated to the world's first eight-speed direct sport-shift transmission. Lamborghini presented the new version of the Murcielago Roadster at the 2006 Los Angeles Auto Show. The Lamborghini Murcielago LP640 Roadster benefits from the same extensive modifications to the bodywork and mechanics as the LP640 Coupe, as well as delivering its own distinct character.
In their re-interpretation of the Roadster, the designers of the Lamborghini Centro Stile have remained true to the original style principles of purism, sportiness and functionality. The 2005 Ford Mustang captured the hearts and minds of millions of fans and future owners when the all-new model debuted. Design aficionados will remember that the senior Giugiaro – who last year celebrated his 50th anniversary in the business by designing a custom-made Ferrari, the GG50 – created the 1965 Bertone Mustang. The car, which was unmistakably Italian in its interpretation, became the first European-styled car to make its international debut in America following the end of World War II.

The interior of the car is one of the pleasant surprises of the car. Our GT test car featured the "Premium Sport Package" which included two-tone leather seats and a 6-disc in-dash CD changer with a 9-speaker Rockford Fosgate Audio System and 10" subwoofer. Even without these options, the interior of the car is well appointed and uses attractive materials. The two-tone orange leather seats in the GT seem somewhat over the top, but they will certainly get you noticed. The interior is especially above par in the GS, which comes standard with comfortable and sturdy cloth bucket seats and an mp3-compatible CD player. Everything from the options to the quality of materials is above standard for a car in its price range. While the front two seats offered plenty of room for the driver and passenger, the same couldn't be said for the rear seats. The back seats are small and should mainly be relegated to overflow luggage duty. Even a small adult will have to tilt his or her head to fit it under the glass hatchback just over the rear seats. Another complaint was the view from inside the car. The driver sits relatively low with high door sills and small windows, offering a small view of the world outside the car. The sharply raked rear window provides a Lamborghini-like rear view, and massive C-pillars completely block the view of the blind spot, a necessity in the multi-lane freeways of city traffic.

When the S-Type R debuted in 2002, Jaguar had high hopes for the car. It matched the M5 and the E55 AMG for grunt and offered the luxury, comfort and style of Jaguar’s standards. It was the first “R” badged car to come from the Jaguar stable, and it offered a supercharged V8. However, the performance of the car was lackluster with its sluggish automatic transmission and near-4000 lbs curb weight. When BMW and Mercedes-Benz upgraded their respective models with newer body styles and upgraded engines, the S-Type R was left in the dust. With the E46 M3 on its way out, it is the end of perhaps the best sports coupe ever built. BMW emphasized world-class handling with one of the best engines in the world to create a relatively affordable and useful sports sedan. The last model built was the M3 Competition, a watered-down version of the CSL built for Europe. While still a great car, it was a second-rate offering to U.S. BMW fans who were left envious of the more extreme versions available elsewhere in the world. Fortunately, M3 owners have plenty of options to enhance the performance and appearance of their cars. Sam Weinberger of Sherman Oaks, CA decided to take that option with his charcoal gray 2002 M3.
Weinberger had a specific mission when building his car. With the exception of a few subtle appearance changes, all of his modifications serve the specific purpose to enhance the performance of the car. The car is a daily driver, so the bells and whistles that go into a show car are forgotten. The interior is left stock, and no heavy stereo system was added. In fact, Weinberger plans to take out some of the material in the trunk and replace the rear deck lid with a carbonfiber piece. The only big piece of bodywork currently added is an AC Schnitzer carbonfiber front lip spoiler.

The first turn of the key activates a gigantic high-pressure fuel pump. To tromp and release the accelerator pedal means more than half a liter of finest nutrition (fuel) have arrived inside the ultra high-performance carburetor system to feed Weineck's custom milled V8 engine.
